Job Description

Responsible to manage the design process and Art and Design team, plus execute innovative design solutions for marquee projects produced by Entertainment including but not limited to all Live Shows, limited-time attractions, and park-wide decoration packages.


Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the design vision and execution of all concepts for New Projects and reoccurring Projects in Blue Sky phases as well as occasionally executing final design packages for presentation making sure they meet client expectations and Universal Studios Japan standards.
  • Manage the Art and Design Staff to include Senior Scenic Designers, Senior Graphic Designers, AutoCAD Draftsmen, Sketch-up Artist, Illustrators, Senior Art Supervisors, Creative Consultants and Graphic Designers.
  • Oversee hiring and work assignments.
  • Ensure compliance of design staff EHS training.
  • Oversee Design goals through staff work production.
  • In collaboration with the Producers, manage the design calendars, schedules and deadlines to make sure design teams hit all requirements.
  • Understand and actively participate in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established UO policy, procedures, training and team member involvement activities.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Scope

Responsible to manage the design process and creative team, plus execute innovative design solutions for marquee projects produced by Entertainment including but not limited to Halloween Horror Nights, Christmas Parades, All Live Shows, Meet and Greets, Temporary Attractions, Parkwide Decorations, Capital Entertainment projects and Special Events throughout Universal Studios Japan.


Qualifications

EXPERIENCE

  • 3-5 Years: Experience in Theatrical Design Management Required.
  • 7+ Years: Experience in Theatrical Design/Theme Park Design Presentations Preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

EDUCATION

  • Bachelor’s degree required. Theatrical Design or Theme Park Design Preferred

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

  • Conceptual illustration, Drawing and Drafting Skills Required.
  • Experience working with Sketch-up/AutoCAD, Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator required.
